Why did I start SLM Consulting?
SLM Consulting, LLC was started to support public health needs of state health departments, health systems, non-profit organizations, and universities, focused on bridging the gap between public health and health care and providing subject matter expertise.
Why does devoting time to public health matter?
Public health is an essential component to improving population health, focused on preventing disease and improving the health in where we live, work, learn, and play. If population health is really going to improve, public health fills the gap where health care does not, addressing the social, economic, and environemtnal factors that affect health outcomes. Why not prevent illness?
Why is engaging the community important and how do I do it?
Multi-sector collaboration and community engagement is key to supporting public health action. The community is comprised of diverse stakeholders who can provide insight into sectors and populations which support collaborative efforts to move the needle on health outcomes. Why not work together rather than in silos?
